The Orpheus Project is inspired by the Greek musician and poet, Orpheus and the legendary healing venues of ancient Greece where cathartic theatrical “spectacles” were staged in magnificent amphitheaters connected with highly developed healthcare centers. The Orpheus Project is a bold, progressive endeavor to awe, inspire and heal people around the world.

Blending the Performing Arts, Medical Sciences and Modern Technology

The Orpheus Project encompasses the Catharsis Application Program, The Orpheus Experience, and The Orpheus Center.

During 40 years of multi-disciplinary discovery, collaborative research and artistic creativity, the idea that specific cathartic musical compositions could help people recount buried personal history and achieve emotional healing through symbols and drawing expression became formalized as The Catharsis Technique and later evolved into The Catharsis Application Program. The Catharsis Technique and Application Program required musical compositions triggering cathartic effects that help to surface traumatic and emotional experiences in patients; as well as physicians and researchers who could effectively blend music, art, and medical science for patient healing.

As the Catharsis Application Program evolved, the team developed a vision for and began preparation of a wide-ranging, modern-day, multimedia musical "spectacle", including a dramatic series of artistic and musical presentations on stage and screen, leveraging state-of-the-art visual and audio components, 3D animation, and on-stage choreography. It would be a reinterpretation of the Orpheus Myth for the 21st century. The production is an exploration of the human existence, a total multi-sensory immersion experience, and recreates the communal healing experiences the ancient Greeks enjoyed. At the core of The Orpheus Experience is Alain Amouyal's musical works steadily and publicly performed by various pianists and the Bielorussian - Minsk Radio-TV - 75 pieces-orchestra, in Europe, with a great impact on the audience at each venue.

To deliver on the Orpheus Project’s Vision of blending integrative medicine with the grand spectacle of music and art will ultimately require a spectacular and inspiring facility, one designed to empower individuals to experience a cathartic emotional journey, while also benefiting from new discoveries in health care techniques. The current design of the Orpheus Center includes a harmonious, healing complex comprised of a magnificent, multi-level, multimedia amphitheater, a vast healthcare and resource center, onsite accommodations, catering facilities, a transport shuttle, and exterior landscaping. Visitors to The Orpheus Center will also have access to on-site practitioners offering sensitive, non-invasive, individualized approaches to self-discovery. Two healthcare wings, identical in form but differing in function, cater to the body and the mind.

The building of The Orpheus Center is the ambitious vision for The Orpheus Institute We are seeking partnerships to make the Center a reality With the enthusiasm, support, and investment of physicians, researchers, and artists throughout Europe and the United States over the course of more than 40 years, The Orpheus Institute is the catalyst, the global center of a movement to realize the idea of whole-person health, and the creation of a place unlike any other: a center that embraces healing that encompasses human creativity as well as the body, mind, and spirit. The next stage will be to move forward with creating the ultimate setting for the Catharsis Application Program — and many other innovative therapies — at the world-class Orpheus Center, a multi-dimensional therapeutic, recreational and arts complex unlike anything the world has ever seen.
