Care of the Mind FLOOR I - CATHARSIS AREA
Practices offered : • GRAPHIC EXPRESSION UNDER MUSICAL INDUCTION In this graphic expression workshop – structured for small support groups – practitioners and participants work together to explore, understand, and overcome repressed issues that negatively impact the individual's current state of mind and quality of life. Music created especially for this purpose can trigger a cathartic release during which patients may express fears, conflicts, and repressed desires – revealed through drawing, painting, collage, and other art forms, while listening to the music. The musical induction acts as an impetus, releasing potential energy harbored within the mind, unique to each individual. This method can mobilize positive mental forces that generate constructive feelings, the imagination, and creative intelligence. Positive behavioral changes may occur, including enhanced communication skills and increased tolerance of others. This workshop can be particularly helpful for those affected by post-traumatic stress disorder. • CORPOREAL EXPRESSION Participants in this workshop can determine how their bodies express dynamic impulses triggered by the music induction. This approach promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Positive behavioral changes may occur, such as improved self-image, self-esteem, and confidence. • PSYCHODRAMA Primarily introduced within a group therapy setting, this form of human development explores issues, concerns, dreams, and deepest aspirations of individuals and groups through dramatic exercises. This method is also used to complement the catharsis workshop. Each individual within the group can serve as a therapeutic catalyst for other participants. This technique enhances the catharsis.  FLOOR II - LABYRINTH AREA
Practices offered : • SYMBOLIC VOYAGES - LABYRINTHS Labyrinths have traditionally served as "tangible" sources for meditation, or focused thought toward a personal belief system. While a labyrinth is a metaphor for life itself, the physical act of walking a labyrinth represents the journey to an individual's center, and back into the world–via a calm, clear path that leads the way. The process creates a sacred place within a tangible space that allows one to separate from the inner ego in the quest find one's personal center. A labyrinth is sometimes confused with a "maze." With twists, turns, and blind intersections, a maze represents a puzzle to be solved—using left brain functions that require logical, sequential, analytical activity to find the way out of the maze. In contrast, a labyrinth has but one path that provides easy access to a clear exit. There are no perplexing dead ends or confusing intersections. Walking the labyrinth involves intuition, creativity, and imagery, leveraging functions of the right brain. While a maze forces one to make many choices to find the way out, there is but one choice to make within the labyrinth. That choice is simply whether to enter in the quest to find one's center, or to bypass the opportunity to walk a contemplative, spiritual path that empowers one to confront and surmount one's fears and limitations. FLOOR III - SLEEP & DReAMS
Services offered : • Polysomnographic recordings Polysomnography—also known as sleep study—is a multi-parametric test used in the study of sleep and as a diagnostic tool in sleep medicine. The healthcare resources in this area leverage such technologies as electroencephalogram (EEG), electromyogram (EMG), electrocardiogram (ECG), and other medical equipment. Stages of sleep are continuously recorded by sensors that monitor functions of the heart, lungs, muscles, and brain. Polysomnography is beneficial to those who want to become aware of the quality of their sleep, and can reveal problems or disturbances in sleep patterns that, overall, detract from the quality of one's daily life. • Symbolic approach to dream content; dream analysis and integration Working with experienced practitioners in this area—including psychiatrists and psychoanalysts—participants can learn to remember their dreams, and consequently, to interpret the symbols and meaning of the dreams. In this practice, specialists closely observe rapid-eye movement, also known as REM, which is a neurophysiologic rhythmic function associated with dreaming and memorization. Dreams are like a road map, and dream decoding can reveal images, phrases, symbols, characters (known or unknown), and other factors that reveal commonalities with the individual. As C.G. Jung expressed it, the dream is a theater in which we are scene, actors, drama, criticism and audience. This method is a powerful supplement to the Catharsis and Labyrinth workshops.
